MA in Political science with a specialization in National Security Administration at The University of Haifa - for international students
 

International students who wish to get to know real time security issues in Israel can take part in the MA in national security administration. This is a specialization offered as part of the master’s degree in political science. In this track, professionals from different countries can learn more about national security through examining the interrelations between political, social, economic, military, and diplomatic issues in national security.
 
This track is mainly aimed at mid-career officials, academics and retired or active members of defense and foreign affairs organizations, who wish to broaden their academic horizons.
 
Graduates of the MA in national security can use the skills gained during their studies to further their careers in security and governmental organizations and use this knowledge to combat strategic challenges.
 

Study program
 
During their studies students gain knowledge and practical skills needed in critical national decision making. They examine current dilemmas of decision makers in Israel and high-ranking officials and get to know contemporary issues in security. In addition, they learn of national security choices and processes in other regional and national conflicts.
 
The curriculum was developed in cooperation with Israel’s National Security College, which is the highest course of study in the IDF.
 

Structure and duration
 
This program spans one year (October - September) and is taught in English.
 
Students study in a non-thesis track that includes 9 mandatory courses and a final exam or graduation project. In addition, the program includes a practicum adjusted to the career paths of each student when possible, in order to allow gaining hands on experience in relevant fields.

Faculty
 
The head of the national security programs is Professor Gabriel Ben Dor, whose fields of research include politics and military, internal Arab relations and Palestinians and Druze.
 

Admissions
 
Admission requirements to this program include:
 
Undergraduate degree in political science from an accredited university in Israel or abroad
GPA of 3.0 and above (80%)
Transcript and Diploma
Undergraduate candidates with a BA in history or social sciences may also apply, they must complete introductory courses before the first semester
Candidates whose native language is not English or who haven’t studied in English must submit a TOEFL exam score: 570 and above in the paper-based test, 230 and above in the computer-based test, or 89 and above in the internet-based test
 

Diploma
 
Graduates receive an MA degree in political science with a specialization in national security, from the faculty of social sciences and the school of political science in the University of Haifa.
 
 

About the university
 
As part of the international master program in political science, students may choose other specializations, such as public administration or diplomacy studies.
 
Other subjects available for international students include Israel studies, Holocaust studies, business management, archaeology, statistics and more.
