I´m a medical doctor in my country, but I would like to do surgery residency in Israel. Do I need to take the medical licensing exam before I can start residency program? Do I need to contact hospitals directly for residency place?

MD residency in Israel
Hello Markus,
Each teaching hospital in Israel have different requirements from his candidates for a residency program. You can choose between a few teaching hospitals which offer international programs: Soroka in Beer Sheva, Tel Hashomer-Shiba in Tel Aviv, Ziv in Sefad, Rambam and Carmel in Haifa, Hadassah Ein Karem and Hadassah Mount Scopus in Jerusalem, Barzilai in Askelon and more.
You'll have to contact each hospital directly to find out if there is an opening for a residency and if you are meeting the requirement. You should know that it's usually harder to get into a program in the hospitals in the center of Israel and in Jerusalem - the hospitals outside of those place are usually in search of great doctors and are more open.
Best regards, Noa

Medical Residency in Western and Eastern Israel.
Good advice because Jerusalem is very Attractive and a Busy Medicall CentRe in Republic of Israel.
Bit it seems that Most Foreign Doctors will first hAve to begin their Med Training in their Various Home Nations before landing in Israel for Further Education and Studies.
Unless Ben Guron and other Israeli Schools are willing to take us on.
