Hi, I am currently a student in Canada and would like to inquire about studying medical school in Israel. I currently have my bachelors degree and will be completing a Masters degree this upcoming year. I was wondering if I still need to take the MCAT to apply to your universities in Israel. Thank you.

M.D Medical Degree in Israel
Hello Myriam,
According to the decision of the Israeli government, all international M.D medical study programs will be closed as of 2026 and will no longer be accepting candidates from abroad. The only medical programs available in Israel are for Israeli students. In addition, there are special programs aimed at new Olim (new immigrants to Israel).
The M.D. programs for Olim are available at the following institutions: Ben-Gurion University (Be’er Sheva), Reichman University (Herzliya), Tel-Aviv University, and more. Please note these programs are not open to international students, but only to Olim and Israeli students.
Regarding admission requirements in Olim programs, these usually include a bachelor’s degree with a GPA of 80 and above, with the required grades in the 7 core courses (prerequisites), knowledge exams, and interviews. In some cases, an MCAT test score may replace the knowledge exam (but not in all institutions).
