Hello, I am currently a second year medical student in the US and am very interested in doing my residency in Israel. Any information about the various programs/applying/how it works in general coming from a US medical school would be really appreciated. Thank you so much.

Medical residency in Israel
Hello Jamie,
Each teaching hospital in Israel have different requirements from his candidates for a residency program. You can choose between a few teaching hospitals which offer international programs: Soroka in Beer Sheva, Tel Hashomer-Shiba in Tel Aviv, Ziv in Sefad, Rambam and Carmel in Haifa, Hadassah Ein Karem and Hadassah Mount Scopus in Jerusalem, Barzilai in Askelon and more.
You'll have to contact each hospital directly to find out if there is an opening for a residency and if you are meeting the requirement. You should know that it's usually harder to get into a program in the hospitals in the center of Israel and in Jerusalem - the hospitals outside of those place are usually in search of great doctors and are more open.
Best regards, Noa

Medical residency in Israel
Hello Noa,
I'm a 5th year medical student in Panama which is in Latin America. Med school here works kinda different than it does in the US. Here we study medicine for 6 years but we're allowed to get into Med School right away since we graduate of high school. I'm almost done with Med School but here after we graduated we have 2 years of internship to go. It's probably to early to be thinking about residency but I'm so interested about doing my residency in Israel. Could you tell me how can I get in contact with the hospitals you mention in your comment? And how open are they about receiving foreigner students?
