I write to apply for PhD studentship under your kind supervision. I had my first degree in University of Ibadan, School of Medical Laboratory Science, Chemical/Clinical Pathology option. During my training, I had rotation in Microbiology, Immunology, Haematology, Histopathology, clinical virology and Microbiology among others.
Later proceeded to the School of Medical Laboratory Science for my postgraduate programme where I obtained a Fellowship Degree in Medical Laboratory Science. My dissertation was on determination of selected antioxidants and biochemical parameters in Nigerian patients with prostate cancer. Also, I had a Fellowship certificate in Immunoassay and related techniques for cancer diagnosis from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), India. The fellowship was sponsored by the International Atomic Energy Agency and Federal government of Nigeria. I have carried out several researches over the years which culminated into about eight publications which are already published in peer reviewed journals (Please refer to my CV on the list of the publications).
Presently, I am a Biomedical Scientist with the Department of Nuclear Medicine, University College Hospital, Ibadan.
My area of interest is molecular approach to cancer diagnosis. This is borne out of the fact that my experience over the years revealed that the present routine diagnostic methods for different types of cancer have limited diagnostic and prognostic properties as well as poor sensitivity and specificity. For example, it is not uncommon to observe PSA level within the reference range in histologically confirmed patients with prostate cancer. This observation further supports the need for the identification of reliable markers for the diagnosis, staging and prognosis of cancer.
It will also expose me to better research methodology and design, and enhance collaborative work of high standard in the development of tumor markers. I will able to familiar sophisticated immunological, molecular and other related advance techniques to be performed in the full scope of health care settings, bringing the state of the art diagnostics to all areas of the world and provide an overview of the current landscape for cancer diagnostics.
My acceptance into the programme would afford me the opportunity to network with other health professionals and researchers from different parts of the world. This, I believe, would be an exceptional opportunity for exchange of experience and ideas. It will also lay the simple foundation for my professional development.
At the end of the study, I will extend the knowledge to my professional colleagues involved in cancer diagnosis and management. I believe this will have direct impact on patients’ management outcomes.
Thank you,

PhD in molecular approach to cancer diagnosis
Hello Olatunji,
There are a few institutions in Israel which offer international Phd programs, among them: The University of Haifa, The Ben Gurion University, The Tel Aviv University and The IDC Herzliya. In order to find out if they have an opening for an international student in a PhD program you'll have to contact them directly.
Each of those institutions have different admission but in general candidates will have to finish a Master's thesis track in a known academic institution in the world, their grade average must be at least 80 (B), and the thesis grade must be 85 or higher (the equivalent of "Very Good").
I've attached a link at the end of my message to an article about the PhD programs in Israel, admission, institutions and more.
