Hi, I'm intetested in doing college in Israel. I understand that as someone interested in medicine, in Israel the process is very different than in America. I hear that going to an Israeli medical school is very hard and therefore I wanted more information on the 4 year program in tel aviv university. Also, if you can inform me with other options of the pre med route, or maybe just medical schools in Israel that are accredited by Israel but accommodating to Americans( in that case I would do undergraduate in America). Thanks, Rachel Ehrlich

Medical school in Israel
Hello Rachel,
The 4 year medical program at The Tel Aviv university is for those who already have an undergraduate degree in the field of science (or similar) and wish to become doctors.
There are no "pre-med" programs in Israel. There are a few institutions which offer medical programs, among them: The Tel Aviv University, The Hebrew University, The University of Haifa, the Ben Gurion University and more. In order to study medicine in Israel you must first complete your pre med studies. Candidates need to present a GPA of at least 3.4. and MCAT scores (or their equivalent in case students are not from the US) with scores of above 27.
I've attached a link at the end of my message to an article about the different schools you can choose from and the admission for international students.
4 year MD programme for Israeli citizens
Hi, I'm a Hungarian student, but I am eligible for Israeli citizenship. My BSc is Medical Diagnostic Analysis, Laboratory Science speciality. I am wondering if I could apply to the four year medical programme, or if I would have to do pre-med as well. I saw online that Israeli citizens have both the 6 year and the 4 year option. Can you please also include sources, so I can save them for later? Thank you so much for your answer, I wish you the best.
Sincerely, Sára

MD program in English for Olim
Hello Sára,
If you are planning on making Aliyah to Israel, you can try to apply to the MD program at Ben-Gurion University in Be’er Sheva, which is open to BA graduates with Israeli citizenship who comply with the Student Authority criteria. The 4-year MD program is suitable for candidates who already hold a B.Sc degree, while the 6-year program is suitable for students without an undergraduate degree.
Regarding admission requirements, you will need to present a GPA of 3.4 and above in your B.Sc degree, and hold a grade of 75 and above in several core courses in science. Additional requirements include a TOEFL test score, and interviews. I would advise you to contact the university and inquire whether your B.Sc degree complies with the core courses required, or whether you will need to study in the pre-med program to apply to the MD track. The pre-med program will assist you in completing these core courses (if you are required to do so).
