Hi, I'm wondering what the process would be for applying to an internal medicine residency in Israel. I'm about to graduate with an MD from the Sackler School of Medicine, American Medical Program, Tel Aviv University. I was considering applying for residency in the US but I'm now considering doing residency in Israel. What would the residency length be? What options for specialization would be available if I want to go into hematology/oncology? Any information you could provide would be very helpful.
Thank you!

Medical Residency in Oncology or Hematology
Hello Avi,
The length of the medical residency in Israel is usually between 4-7 years, depending on one’s specialization. In Oncology, one can choose specializations such as radiotherapy or medical oncology. The residency in hematology is usually conducted after 2 ½ years of internal medicine internship and includes around 1 ½ - 2 years in hematological departments, including specializations in bone marrow transplants, blood transfusion banks, and more. There are various teaching hospitals in Israel which offer residencies, such as Tel Hashomer (near Tel Aviv), Rambam (in Haifa), Soroka (in Beer Sheba), and more. I would advise you to contact the different hospitals directly to get the most accurate information on the application process.
