Master of Disaster Management (M.DM.) at Tel Aviv University
 
Tel Aviv University offers an international master’s in Emergency and Disaster Management. This multidisciplinary program aims to train a new generation of innovators in the field of disaster management, and help communities become more prepared and resilient against today’s challenges.
 
The program, which is a WHO (World Health Organization) collaborating center, is aimed at professionals in the disaster management field looking to broaden their skillset and develop effective emergency programs.
 
Israel is considered a leader in emergency management and is known worldwide for its innovation in this field. This program gives international professionals an opportunity to learn from Israeli experts, including field experts, researchers, and policy makers.
 

 

Study program
 
This program allows graduates to develop their professional skillset in disaster management and acquire new and innovative tools and critical thinking skills for building and implementing intervention plans for disaster and emergency situations. This is a multidisciplinary track which addresses various aspects of disaster management including public health, emergency medicine, crisis communication, cyber security, crisis management, CBRN defense (chemical, radiological, biological, and nuclear hazards), and more. It integrates both theory and hands-on experience, to assist students in putting the acquired knowledge to action in their careers.
 
 

 

 

Structure and duration
 
This master’s program spans one calendar year and comprises three semesters (two regular semesters and one summer semester). The curriculum is personalized and flexible, to cater to the students’ career goals and previous experience. Studies are conducted in English.
 

 

 

Students may choose between two study tracks:
 
- A regular track – without a thesis, which includes a final seminar paper.
- A thesis track – suitable for those interested in pursuing a PhD degree.

Admissions
 
Admission requirements are as follows:
 
- A bachelor’s degree with a GPA of 3.0 and above.
- Official diploma transcripts and their English translations.
- Personal essay (400 – 600 words) describing the candidate’s reasons for pursuing this program in Israel and explaining how this track will support their professional growth.
- CV – professional resume.
- Personal interview.
- English proficiency exam – for non-English speaking candidates.

 

 

 
Scholarships
 
There are several available sources of funding, including needs-based scholarships and external scholarships, suitable for international students.
 

 

 

Academic diploma
 
Upon successfully completing their studies, graduates are awarded an M.DM. degree – Master of Disaster Management from Tel Aviv University.
