Greetings! I am curious to learn about how one would go about transferring over to the Canadian health care system post graduation from an Israeli medical school? additionally, if I wished to stay in Israel following graduation - what is that process like? What is the probability of getting matched during residency?

Medical residency in Israel and Canadian medical programs
Hello Ekaterina,

In Canada, Israeli students who finish medical school and all the necessary exams, must pass other exams to get the Canadian license.

If you wish to stay in Israel it will be easier because most hospitals look for international students but you'll have to apply personally and the choose only the best and brightest.

Does it make a difference....
Hi Noa,

Thank you so much for addressing my question. I am curious whether it makes a difference if one is already an Israeli Citizen living abroad. Were I to consider enrolling - would I be considered as International OR Domestic?

It depends on the program you choose
Hello Ekaterina,

If you'll choose an international program (in English) and apply as an international student you will be considered an international student. If you'll apply for the Hebrew programs for Israeli students you will be considered a domestic student.
